Photography is an attitude, a way of being, a way of living, Photography is
“the literature of the eye”
It reproduces infinitely what only happens once, it is a brief complicity between foresight and chance and it reveals the love and the feelings that we experience in a single image.
“We don’t take a photograph, we create it, it’s the art of painting without brushes”
I took my first photos at the age of 17. It was with an old FOCA SPORT (film, of course.) It was my father's, and both had fought in the Algerian war.
My grandfather worked for a major newspaper in the west of France, "La Nouvelle République", as a former photographer and then reporter. He will end up becoming a great director. Is this why I became passionate about photography? Maybe !
As the years passed, film gave way to digital on a mechanical device, which in turn gave way to mirrorless digital. Artificial intelligence is now complementing this evolution, both rapid and slow. We must not shy away from progress. We have no skills to do it, especially when we see the world we live in. You have to adapt.
It wasn't too difficult for me. I took a significant break from photography just after the birth of my two children, letting other passions take over me. Slowly, in the 2000s, the desire returned with digital technology.
The years passed again, then the first trip to Namibia, to Botswana, and again to Namibia. Tanzania and Kenya will follow. There, the sting became recurrent. Southern Africa gave me savannah fever. I have been traveling through Kenya's parks, the Maasai Mara and Amboseli, for more than eight years now. For me, they represent the best for a first trip to this country. It took me a long time to find one of the best guides in the Maasai Mara. Antony is a rare gem in this field, and my photographic work has quickly evolved thanks to him. As they say in the Maasai Mara: “No good guide, no photos”.
The years have passed, and today, with two partners, we have invested in this small camp to completely renovate it, restore it and give it a lot of love. We have made it a haven of peace where many amateur, expert or professional photographers will finally find the elements they were missing elsewhere: attractive prices, storage, electrical outlets, wifi in the tents, carefully designed vehicles, and extraordinary guides. This will make your stay at the Mara a total success. My passion remains unchanging and the desire to share and optimize your stay there pushed me to invest myself fully in this project, so that you can make the most of it.
Shooting in the Massai Mara.
Antony and I at the Massai Mara, Antony is for me one of the best Wild Life guides I have known in Kenya, there, everyone nicknames him "MAJOR"
