The art of painting without brushes

IMG_0966.JPG

Photography is an attitude,

a way of being, a way of living, Photography is

It reproduces infinitely what only happens once, it is a brief complicity between foresight and chance and it reveals the love and the feelings that we experience in a single image.

“We don’t take a photograph, we create it,

it’s the art of painting without brushes”

I took my first photos at the age of 17. It was with an old FOCA SPORT (film, of course). It was my father's, and we both fought in the Algerian War.

My grandfather worked for a major newspaper in western France, "La Nouvelle République," as a former photographer and then a reporter. He eventually became a senior editor. Is that why I became passionate about photography? Maybe!

As the years went by, film photography gave way to digital photography on mechanical cameras, which in turn gave way to mirrorless digital photography. Artificial intelligence is now completing this evolution, both rapid and slow. We mustn't shy away from progress. We don't have the skills to make it, especially when we see the world we live in. We have to adapt.

It wasn't too difficult for me. I took a significant break from photography just after the birth of my two children, allowing other passions to take over. Slowly, in the 2000s, the passion returned with digital photography.

Years passed, followed by my first trip to Namibia, Botswana, and Namibia again. Tanzania and Kenya followed. There, the bug became recurrent. Southern Africa gave me the savannah bug. I've been traveling through Kenya's parks, the Maasai Mara and Amboseli, for over ten years now. For me, they represent the best experience for a first trip to this country. It took me a long time to find one of the best guides in the Maasai Mara. Antony is a rare gem in this field, and my photographic work quickly evolved thanks to him.

As they say in the Maasai Mara: "No good guide, no photos."

Years passed again, and today, with two partners, we have invested in this small camp to completely renovate it, restore it, and give it lots of love. We've made it a haven of peace where many amateur, expert, and professional photographers will finally find the elements they were missing elsewhere: attractive prices, storage, electrical outlets, Wi-Fi in the tents, carefully designed vehicles, and extraordinary guides. This will make your stay at the Mara a total success. My passion remains unchanging, and the desire to share and optimize your stay there has driven me to fully invest myself in this project, so that you can make the most of your stay and make it memorable. Welcome to Mara Major Camp.
